John Wakeford
John Wakeford was 9 when war started and lived in Petworth. He
remembers evacuees and Canadian soldiers in the town. John was a
pupil at Petworth Boys' School and was there on the day it was
bombed in September 1942 and 32 people were killed, including 28
boys. John talks about his memories of the day and the aftermath of
the bombing.
