Activity 1 -  Population

Provides an overview of the development of population growth and distribution throughout West Sussex in the Victorian period, using graphs showing comparative figures for the whole county, seaside towns, market towns, and rural towns.

Activity 2 - Trade and industry

A selection of images illustrating new jobs, shops, and technology, will help children to gain an understanding of the developments in these sectors of Trade and Industry during the Victorian period.

Activity 3 -  Transport

A selection of images showing different forms of transport, to illustrate the changes which were made possible by new technology - in particular the development of forms of mass transport such as trains and buses, and the rise in popularity of bicycles.
